New foliar nutrient to improve sugar beet yields

Ilex EnviroSciences, innovators in crop nutrition will be using LAMMA 17 to launch Beet Raiser, a pioneering new product specifically targeting nutrient uptake and yield in sugar beet.

Beet Raiser works by supplying a bespoke package of highly available macro and micronutrients combined with the biostimulating action of phosphite P to promote root growth and nutrient access. Application at key growth stages will assist efficient nutrient uptake from the soil and translocation within the plant to ensure ready availability of the nutrition required for healthy establishment, stress resistance and productive photosynthesis.

Ilex EnviroSciences Ltd Technical Director Brian Aconley said, “Beet Raiser uses the same technology as our highly effective foliar phosphite PK MAXX+ which has performed consistently well in trials and is now used extensively by potato growers to optimise tuber numbers and tuber size. With the higher nutrient demand of sugar beet for NPK, Magnesium and key micronutrients such as Boron, Zinc and Molybdenum, Beet Raiser has been formulated to target these additional needs. By applying these essential nutrients as a foliar phosphite formulation, the efficiency of uptake and delivery is enhanced whilst keeping application rates and product cost low.”

Like all Ilex foliar nutrients, Beet Raiser is easy to use with excellent tank mix compatibility and can readily be incorporated into a standard spray programme. The biostimulating action of the phosphite P will also bring added efficiencies when used with other foliar applied nutrients such as Ilex Mn Plus (360 g/l Manganese flowable liquid) through the increased mobility and uptake of the Manganese cations.”

“Initial field trials on sugar beet using Beet Raiser alongside a standard nutrition programme, have shown excellent results in terms of both size and uniformity. As pressures on growers increase to improve profitability through yield performance, Beet Raiser represents an efficient and low cost option for yield enhancement.”

The Ilex technical sales team will be on hand in Hall 7, Stand 7109 to discuss the benefits of their full range of concentrated nutrients and biostimulants and the latest recommendations for tailored application programmes to optimise 2017 yields.
